MASTERCLASS IN DATA, PRIVACY AND ETHICS

For Privacy Awareness Week 2021 we ran this 1 hour free webinar on how organisations can best make decisions about secondary data use, which are legal, ethical, and respectful of your customers.  A video of the webinar is now available.

Webinar Overview

The computing analytics power of Big Data promises much, but its value cannot be realised without customer trust.

This webinar, by leading privacy practitioner Anna Johnston, will draw together global research into the factors that influence customer trust, and our own experience guiding clients through data analytics, business intelligence and research projects, to offer a framework for balancing business objectives with legal and ethical concerns about the use of personal information.

Guest speaker Andre Castaldi, Director of the Assessments section in Regulation and Strategy at the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, will also talk through findings from the OAIC’s surveys of Australian attitudes towards privacy, and how this impacts trust in data use.

Register for this webinar and gain an understanding of how to navigate your legal and ethical obligations, and gain the social licence needed to use data effectively.

Using plain language and evidence-based insights, this webinar will assist you to:

  • create a framework for thinking about privacy risks and the harms to avoid
  • understand shifting attitudes towards privacy issues, and
  • anticipate the factors that will impact on trust and social licence for projects using personal data.

Suitable for people working with data, executives responsible for making decisions on data-matching or data-sharing projects, and the privacy professionals who advise them.

Eligible for 1 Continuing Privacy Education point for CIPM and CIPP/E.
