NSW is introducing a mandatory notification of data breaches scheme for public sector agencies, including government agencies, state-owned corporations, local councils and public universities. Agencies must prepare for the scheme, with notifications of eligible data breaches becoming mandatory from 28 November 2023.
This 90 minute webinar will help you understand the new scheme, how your agency can prepare, and how to respond to a data breach.
The webinar will cover:
- what constitutes an eligible data breach
- who to notify, when and how
- inter-relationship with the federal scheme and the SOCI Act
- what you need to have in place by 28 November
- how to prepare a Data Breach Response Plan and Policy
- lessons learned from the equivalent federal scheme, and
- Q&A time.

This webinar will be presented by Andrea Calleia, our Director of Learning. Andrea has extensive experience in the learning and development field, and has specialised in developing and delivering privacy training since 2003. Andrea managed the education program for the NSW Privacy Commissioner’s Office, and on behalf of Salinger Privacy facilitates Privacy Officer training for the OAIC.
