The GDPR and privacy regulators around the world are raising the profile of de-identification as a useful tool for protecting data and enabling privacy compliance, but many privacy practitioners feel intimidated by the mysterious maths and statistics. Meanwhile researchers and data scientists need advice about whether their de-identification plans will meet obligations under privacy law.
This webinar, by leading privacy practitioner and the author of Demystifying De-identification, Anna Johnston, will offer a practical, skills-building session for participants. Anna has presented workshops about de-identification at conferences from Sydney to Cambridge, winning praise for her pragmatic approach.
Register for this webinar and gain an understanding of what de-identification means (in law, and in practice), how de-identification works (and when it doesn’t), and the different methods, with their relative strengths and weaknesses.
Using plain language and common sense examples, this webinar will assist you to:
- speak the language of data scientists, researchers and statisticians
- critically analyse the privacy risks of projects involving data sharing or data analytics, and
- identify which de-identification approaches to use when, to protect personal information.
Presented by our Director Anna Johnston, who is acknowledged as one of Australia’s foremost experts on privacy law and practice. With qualifications in law, public policy and management, and more than 20 years’ experience in legal, policy and research roles, Anna brings a breadth of perspectives and a wealth of experience to dealing with privacy and data governance issues.
Facilitated by our Privacy Learning Manager Andrea Calleia, who has extensive experience in the learning and development field, and has specialised in privacy training since 2003 when she managed the education program for the NSW Privacy Commissioner’s Office. Andrea manages our e-learning program and delivers most of our face to face training.
