Need an immediate solution to your privacy compliance training needs?
Our online Privacy Awareness Training eLearning program is designed to be suitable for staff at all levels within NSW public sector agencies.
Our training content is based on what works. The privacy messages to be delivered to your staff have been carefully crafted by our professional trainers, with the benefit of over 15 years’ experience in delivering privacy training, for clients across government, business and not-for-profit sectors. This is not just ‘tick-a-box’ generic compliance content.
And because we are privacy specialists, our content is kept up-to-date with the latest developments in both the law and technology. (After all, we know NSW privacy law inside out, and we update ‘the bible’ of NSW privacy law every quarter.)

About this module
What this module covers
This module provides participants with an overall awareness of their legal obligations.
On completion of this module, participants will understand:
- the meaning of privacy, and why it matters to their agency
- the meaning of ‘personal information’
- the scope of the privacy laws in NSW, including their interaction with GIPAA
- what the privacy principles say, and
- how they apply in practice.
Why this module is important
Protecting the privacy of the personal information you hold is part-and-parcel of good public administration. This module will help your staff understand their legal obligations, and maintain the trust of your clients – and the reputation of your agency.
Who this module is for
All members of staff, at any NSW public sector agency regulated by the PPIP and HRIP Acts. This includes State government departments and authorities, local councils, and public universities in NSW.
(If you are from an entity regulated by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), such as federal government agencies and businesses around Australia, please instead see our Privacy Awareness Training for the federal Privacy Act.)
Our Privacy Awareness Training module provides a solid basis for anyone who needs to understand privacy and the importance of protecting privacy in the course of their work. This module can work as an induction program for new staff, or as a refresher module as part of ongoing staff training.
For someone new to the privacy profession, this module will also work as a starting point from which to build your privacy expertise. The next step for privacy professionals – and indeed other professionals with an interest in the area, such as legal, information security, risk and compliance professionals – is to undertake one or more of our specialised eLearning modules and/or access our other resources on specific privacy topics.
